With a heavy heart and a heavy step, the she-cat who'd been appointed the moniker, Teller of the Pointed Stone, stepped out from the Cave of Pointed Stones. She cast her gaze upon her tribe-mates and winced at how thin and frail they looked. If something weren't done soon she didn't think they'd survive to see the great thaw that was sure to come when the weather began to warm.
"It is time to gather round and listen to the information I'm about to impart." She'd made up her mind. Even if The Tribe of Endless Hunting didn't know what to do, she had an idea. From the stories told of ancients who'd long since departed the living to join their ancestors.

shadow watcher could be spotted laying prone in their nest, curled up to preserve heat. their fur was messy - unkempt, as it were, from lack of recent care (the feline version of bedhead). there was little to hunt, so by their logic, they might as well sleep in, though they were half-awake when the call was given.
they stretched, reluctant, feeling soreness and hunger in their bones as they made their way to where the stoneteller had called out. they raised their head, squinting respectfully with orange eyes as they seated themself on the cold, rocky floor, tail sweeping to curl against their body. they knew the chill was ever present, but it suddenly felt much colder as they met the eyes of the stoneteller.

Leopard Frost's ears twitched, one foot outside the cave where most, if not all of the Tribe was gathered. He'd thought to go in search of food, but if Stoneteller beckoned then he'd listen. Even if it was still odd his own litter-mate now held the title. It should not have happened so soon by his reckoning.
Turning from the cave's exit he set foot toward where Stoneteller asked them to gather, if they weren't already close like the sleeping she-cat Maple Shine.
His stomach rumbled. His shoulders sagged as he sat his rump upon the hard surface of the ground.
Maple Shine gazed up from where she lay curled in on herself at Stoneteller. She hoped the she-cat had an answer to their predicament. For she knew not how much longer she could go on with an empty belly. Worse yet was that even her younger kin had begun to grow weak as well despite all her best efforts to keep them safe from the hunger and cold.
Stoneteller glanced at them. All who were in the cave at that moment. "I see most, if not all of you are here." She was not about to wait for any stragglers. Not when this was too important a decision. Anyone not present would hear about it from the rest.
She jumped up on one of the small boulders to get a better look at her Tribe. "These past moons have been hard. We have lost many. Yet still we have less and less room. Worse we're all starving, including the kits," what kits that had survived that was. "We can no longer go on this way, or we'll not survive. Let there be no more needless death. Let there be no more hungry bellies."
Stoneteller's tail twitched. Only for a brief moment did she grow quiet before continuing. "Some of us must leave the Tribe and find a new home, so that we may all survive this moon and moon upon moon upon moon to follow."

Aspen Sky had been lurking in the main area of the cave inhabited by the Tribe of Rushing Water, hoping to rest, interact with his tribemates and gather as much energy as he could muster before leaving the encampment to hunt in the chilly mountaintops, despite the growing futility of doing so as prey became more scarce and the weather more fatal. His attention had been drawn by a familiar voice, belonging to the Teller of the Pointed Stones, as she beckoned the tribe cats to listen to her announcements. Perking his ears, the pale coated tom settled on his rump and focused his weakened senses on Stoneteller.
He remained quiet, numbing as the suffering and losses of his tribe were mentioned, until Stoneteller revealed her decision. "Some of us must leave the Tribe and find a new home, so that we may all survive this moon and moon upon moon upon moon to follow." Leave the tribe? The Tribe of Rushing Water had been the only thing Aspen Sky had known, and deep within he knew he wouldn't want to leave his long-time home; many in the tribe very well may have felt the same. But, with some slight thought, it seemed to be one of the best options to ensure the survival of the tribe in these trying times. He held his tongue, waiting for the she-cat to share the rest of her information before making any comments.

Playful Wind had been struggling to distract herself from the aching hunger pangs, by grooming herself almost unnecessarily. Her pelt was sleek and shy, but she noted fur was beginning to fall out on her tongue from being overworked.
Stoneteller's call broke her from her haze of preening, and she got to her paws. Slowly she wandered over, letting out soft chirps to herself before sitting by the Tribe leader, ears pressed forward and back hunched up, silently betraying how weak the hunger had made her.
The leader's decision put two very different emotions at odds: dread, fear, the feeling of doom on the horizon; and excitement, intrigue, adventure. She wanted to go to the new home - but how did she know they'd make it? How was she sure her friends and family would be safe? back here?
She shuddered, and closed her eyes hard, twitching her whiskers. What if so many cats want to leave that we leave too few behind? she wondered. How come we don't just move the entire Tribe?
She shook her head as if to clear it, and listened on.

Thunder Cloud Thunder Cloud was at the very front of the group of cats that had gathered around the Stone Teller. His observant gaze thought her to look sad, sadder than normal. He sat with his chest puffed out and, although he was starving like all the rest of them, his large build took up more space than some of the other leaner cats. He tried not to think of the hunger that had been taking up most of his thoughts.
As soon as Stoneteller started speaking, he used all of his strength to focus on her somber words. At first, he wasn't sure where she was going with her speech, but then the words truly registered in his mind. "Some of us must leave the Tribe." Thunder Cloud couldn't help it, a smile appeared on his face. The very topic he had been obnoxiously advocating for was finally being deemed as a possible option.
His yellow eyes peered around the cave to look at the rest of his tribemates, almost like an excited kit looking for their parents approval. They didn't smile. Heck, all of them looked sad still. But how could they be sad? To himself, he said, "But isn't this a good thing?" He thought he was quiet, but him being the oblivious tom that he was, actually said it quite loudly. His smile faded and he looked at the floor, pondering the reactions of others.

Gaze of yellow rest upon the she-cat known as Stoneteller. She'd been given the role upon the death of the previous three days prior. The toms heart ached at the words she divulged. Some of them would need to leave. "A wise decision, Stoneteller, but heartbreaking. For to leave would be to leave you behind, and anyone else who decides to remain." He knew that there would be those who would not set paw upon the journey ahead. Yet he already knew he'd leave so as to give others who stayed a chance. Mapleshine dipped her head in ascent. Some cats words were true. Although her tail flicked as she turned her head to cast a small glare at a ginger tom. To her his words had seemed a bit offensive even if she was agreed that the Stoneteller's decision was a sound one. Turning her gaze back to the tribe's current Stoneteller, she asked, "When will this journey take place? How will we know where to go Stoneteller?"Stoneteller heard the doubt and although she was not certain it was her own mind playing tricks on her, some of them appeared worried. Even she worried. Closing her eyes she tilted her head back. "The Tribe of Endless Hunting does not wish us all to leave. It is a difficult choice to be made by all." She reopened her eyes to look back upon all the cats present for her speech. "Though the days, and moons, and tree lengths may separate us, we will always be in each other's hearts come what may. No matter where your footsteps take you know that you go with love. Know too that no place has endless resources and thus why some must stay while others go so that there will be enough food and water here and toward the rising sun."She glanced to Leopard Frost. "I will miss you Leopard Frost." She glanced at the other cats. "I will miss all of you, should you choose to go too." Yet they were not all close kin as was her brother. "Now if there are none with questions, please go let those who were not present know. The choice must be decided within three moon-highs." The sooner she thought, the better, for then perhaps death would not swoop down upon them again due to the hunger and the cold which made it all the worse. @rowan Hircine Tilly Shortee ras
